Matt is a youthful DJ tinkering with tension and toying with traction. This mix for my friends at Sisters is a little noisy at times, like the restaurant can be on a busy friday eve, but it’s a truly mixed pot here with some rock, some orchestral, some vocal, the only weather report song I like, and two dance songs. Listen to my radio show Tuesdays, live from 3-5 am on WBAI 99.5 fm in New York City.

Hi there, I’m Joe, 1/2 of Extra Water. I recorded this mix late at night in my apartment in Bed Stuy. It’s an honor to be a part of this series. Listening to everyone’s mixes it’s clear that there is a certain sense of freedom to playing at SISTERS. Last time I was there we played a 7 hour set which gave us a chance to explore a wide spectrum of sounds. That night, “Stay” by The Black Madonna (which you’ll hear is the second song here) served as a jumping off point for us into more uptempo selections. This mix is centered around some deeper grooves paired with a couple of long-standing Extra Water favorites. Sprinkled throughout, you’ll hear audio clips of my younger sister pulled from 8mm tapes dating back to 1998. Hope you enjoy listening.

The Duchess is a story teller, and her preferred medium is music. Early years spent strutting around the fashion and drag circuits in London led her to leap across the Atlantic where she found a true home in the underground dance community of New York; hosting & promoting parties for I Love Vinyl, and spreading her own message of love through her bi-monthly radio show “Shameless Love”, on bel-air radio. She spins in and around Manhattan and Brooklyn as a sole entity, and also as part of the all-female dj collective, Four On The Floor. Expect to laugh, cry, elevate, and commune during her sets. Also expect her to come down from the dj booth and ask you if you would like to dance? Or if you would like another drink? Or if you are having the time of your life yet?
