A new quintet founded by cellist Brent Arnold, with Arun Ramamurthy on violin, Zosha Warpeha on Hardanger d’amore, John Murchison on contrabass, and Alaina Ferris on harp. Five extraordinary musicians, each with a distinctive voice, building on adventurous compositional structures with improvisational fluidity.
Co-composers Alex Koi (vocals, electronics) and Kirin McElwain (cello, modular synth) create tightly-coiled song-poems interspersed with free improvisation. Using cello, voice, electronics and modular synthesizer, they combine technology and humanness to create music that is the mystical translation of internal observations and the expression of what’s held inside.
