DOLUNAY
Since 2012, Dolunay has lured audiences with their approach to Turkish and Rumeli musical traditions. Dolunay infuses classic and contemporary traditions with an urban grit that can only be found in New York City’s confluence of musical and cultural forces. With an array of original compositions offered alongside renditions of Turkish and Rumeli standards, the music of Dolunay (Turkish for “full moon”) offers listeners an escape from the press of city life.
Jenny Luna – voice, percussion
Adam Good – oud
John Murchison – kanun
Stick around for the Arabic music jam after the set!
Brooklyn Maqam is a volunteer-run nonprofit organization founded in 2018 to foster community engagement with maqam-based music, presenting and promoting music from the Middle Eastern (especially Arabic) musical traditions, with the goals of connecting musicians and audiences, preserving the art form through education and mentorship, and providing performance opportunities for both established masters and emerging talents.
